Museum Operations Coordinator

Job SummaryThe Museum Operations Coordinator oversees day-to-day operations of the Lānaʻi Culture & Heritage Center’s museum, including ensuring the museum is open for a minimum of four hours a day, Monday through Friday. This position will serve as a museum docent and is also responsible for coordinating interns and volunteer docents. The coordinator will also assist in archival collections management and outreach program facilitation. This position will work closely with and reports to the Lānaʻi CHC Executive Director.

Main job responsibilitiesResponsible for daily museum operations, including docent work Facilitates and conducts private museum openings for groups Develops and executes other musum-related events and experiences Coordinates student and community volunteer docents and interns Works with Archivist to ensure proper care and management of the archive Assist in organizing, cataloguing, and digitizing archival collections Assist in development of exhibitions, which could be virtual or physical Assist with outreach program coordination and organization Assist with other duties as needed

Qualification/RequirementsBachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred Requires basic knowledge of Hawaiian culture, Lānaʻi’s history, culture, and landscapes Requires working to established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance Requires excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and organizational skills Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner Able to think and make effective decisions quickly Ability to create effective working relationships with people Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure Must have a basic knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and a willingness to learn other technological platforms
