Lāna‘i Culture and Heritage Center hosts a Memorial Day event for a day of remembrance as we make bouquets for graves and brighten the island’s cemetery in honor of the island’s ancestors. Just over 3,000 people live on Lāna‘i. The island is also home to a veterans cemetery, and the main cemetery is the final resting place of many immigrants from around the world who came during the pineapple plantation era in search of better lives. Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center hopes to honor all the Lāna‘i people who helped make the community what it is today.
