Honoring the past, enriching the future
Our culture of shared values unites our team. Ancestral wisdom influences our work to preserve cultural practices, learn from historical experience and plan for future generations. We believe in sustainability and work to adapt what we know of the past to the present. We know there is a balance between honoring traditions and preparing for what lies ahead. We help to harmonize both.
Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center took root in 2007 in consultation with kūpuna and islanders as a community-based non-profit. In 2010, the center opened a climate-controlled display and archive center in the historic Dole Plantation Administration Building. The center serves as a hub that connects people with the traditions, history, land and culture of Lāna‘i. Since its opening, more than 100,000 people have visited the museum and participated in a vibrant collection of programs.
Our work is possible through the support of community members, island guests, donors and volunteers. Donate to support our mission.
