Japanese Exhibit on Display through Spring

January 2024 — Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center celebrates 2024 with a new exhibit of more than 30 artifacts and 25 photos from its vast archive. Honoring the legacy of Lāna‘i’s Japanese community, this exclusive exhibition features a first-hand glimpse of pieces from the island’s Japanese families.

Hawaiian Artifacts Preservation Project

November 2023 - Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center has launched E Mālama i ke Koehana Waiwai o Lāna‘i (to care for the valuable artifacts of Lāna‘i), an ambitious two and half-year project to preserve and honor the native Hawaiian artifacts in Lāna‘i CHC’s care.

How to Handle Lāhainā Fire Materials on Lāna‘i

August 2023 - Materials dispersed from the Lāhainā fire will show up on Lāna‘i shores and tips on handling them until they can be returned to their rightful owners or to the appropriate repository from FEMA.

Lāna‘i Memorial Day Bouquet Making Cleanup 2023

June 2023 - Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center brought together the island community to participate in bouquet making on Saturday, May 27 on the Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center lawn. The organization also brought together over 80 volunteers for the cemetery clean-up and bouquet placing on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.

Kupulau Festival Celebrates Conservation

May 2023 - Lāna‘i Culture & Heritage Center's second annual Kupulau Festival celebrated Lāna‘i's precious natural and cultural resources. There were educational booths for all to learn about the biocultural landscape, interactive crafts and opportunities for families to take home native plants.

April 2023 - On April 1, 2023 Lāna‘i Culture and Heritage Center volunteers worked to restore Hawai'i's largest dryland forest and Lāna‘i's Ka Lanakila Church.
